Chinese automaker Geely launches Galaxy E5 for global markets

Geely officially announced the launch of its much awaited Galaxy E5. This electric SUV will be developed for the global market. It is believed to be built on the global intelligent new energy architecture (GEA). It follows a minimalistic design which will have a universal appeal. Geely has worked on both left hand and right hand drive versions of the Galaxy E5. Credit must be given to the Geely’s R&D teams who have developed such a world class model. 

The global model complies with international standards and caters to the regulatory needs of 89 countries. The Geely Galaxy E5 will be made available in five variants. The starting prices for the base model will roughly be around 14,500 Euro and it will peak at 19,000 Euros. This EV is known to be technologically advanced and will be equipped with self-developed features like – electric drive, short blade battery, CTB technology, etc. The E5 is said to be dynamically superior to its rivals. All five variants are powered by the same powertrain consisting of a 160 kW peak power motor and 320 Nm peak torque. It has a claimed 0-100 in 6.9 seconds. 

The base variants come with a 49.52 kWh battery pack offering a driving range of 440 kms. The top variants come with a 60.22 kWh battery with a driving range of 530 kms. Power comes from the Geely Aegis Short blade battery. The lithium iron phosphate (LFP cell) has an incredible lifespan and can charge upto 3500 cycles. Geely Auto has seen a overseas sales growth of more than 67% (197,428 units). This model will be presented soon globally and will kickstart Geely’s ambitious international expansion.
