Following the success of the EV 3 crossover, the South Korean auto giant will introduce the Kia EV4 electric sedan which will be a direct rival to the Tesla Model 3. To be built on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the EV4 electric sedan has been spotted testing. It has been spotted on multiple occasions in Korea and a prototype was found in Germany undergoing pre-production trials.
The test car was heavily camouflaged and the design and dimensions of the test mule remained very similar to the design study. While it remains a sedan, the side profile has a fastback silhouette like the Tesla Model 3. The production-spec EV4 has to be revealed in flesh to give people an estimate as to what design it carries.
Kia EV4 discussion
The rear end could be having an unusual shape and that body style makes it very distinctive. This is definitely going to be one of the most striking EVs in the market and it will command a lot of attention. Prices will be similar to that of the Tesla Model 3 and it will also feature a performance-oriented dual-motor EV4 GT. It is going to mimic the driving dynamics of its spiritual cousin, the Kia Stinger.
Being a successor to the EV3, it will come equipped with a 58.3 kWh battery pack or an 81.4 kWh unit. It will be coming with a front or all-wheel-drive. It will also get a 400-volt electrical architecture giving it 300 miles of driving range and it will also get a bigger battery. Kia is yet to confirm whether it will sell the EV4, but its testing in Korea and Europe has given an indication of it being launched in 2025. Kia has maintained confidentiality in its production plants, but expect it to be built locally either in West Point Georgia, or in Mexico.
