Hyundai sold 47,872 units in January resulting in a 10% growth over last year. Hyundai also recorded the highest January sales in the history of the company. 989 Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV’s were sold last month constituting 2% of the overall volume. Earlier in December, the company sold 153 units of the Ioniq 5. This has resulted in more than 1000 Ioniq 5 cars on US roads alone.
The sales figures are definitely going to increase in the coming months. Considering the increasing demand for the Hyundai Ioniq 5. There are other plug-in and battery-powered vehicles in Hyundai’s lineup. This includes the – Kona electric, IONIQ electric, IONIQ plug-in, Santa Fe PHEV, and Tucson PHEV.
Another model the Hyundai Nexo which is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle recorded 28 units being sold. This is a 22% increase from what was sold a year back. The sales of hydrogen vehicles have been considerably lower than battery-powered vehicles such as the IONIQ 5.
Several versions of the Hyundai Ioniq are sold in the US market. The entry-level variant which comes with a 58.2 kWh battery will only come later in 2022. Other variants of the Ioniq 5 claim to have a range exceeding 300 km on a single charge. Hyundai also has different commercials running to showcase its electric portfolio to enthusiasts. They are trying to sell their EVs as a sustainable alternative to fossil-powered models. They also try to promote their cars with an eccentric quotient. Many may not take in the strangely designed electrics from Hyundai.
