Switch Delhi initiative

Switch Delhi will ensure only electric vehicles will be used by different departments. The campaign will go on to highlight the benefits of using electric vehicles. It could help Delhi to become a clean and pollution-free city. It will force different departments under the government to use only electric vehicles within 6 months.

The chief minister appealed to the people to join the campaign and promote using electric vehicles. He highlighted the adoption of electric vehicles will help curb the issue of pollution. Kejriwal asked people to partake in this campaign and promote this ideology and provide charging stations in their premises. The Switch Delhi campaign will appeal to people to make the campaign a mass movement. He went on to say it’s high time to implement it with commitment.

Efforts will be made to promote the use of electric vehicles and create a cleaner and greener future. The campaign will promote electric vehicles and make a contribution towards a pollution-free Delhi”.

The Delhi government has planned extensive subsidies on the purchase of electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The initiative will also waive road tax and registration charges. More than 6,000 electric vehicles have been purchased since the policy launch in August 2020. The government has also issued tenders for setting up 100 charging stations across the city.

Arvind Kejriwal said the government has fixed an ambitious target of 25 percent electric vehicles. The effort is to turn EV adoption into a mass movement. We need to convert it into a ”Jan Andolan”, to decrease pollution by buying such vehicles.”

All hired cars being engaged by various departments of the Delhi government will transition to electric.

The Delhi government has rolled out the highest incentives on the purchase of EVs among all Indian states. Incentives on EVs range from Rs 30,000 for two and three-wheelers. And up to Rs 1,50,000 on the purchase of 4-wheelers.

The subsidy is received directly in the bank account within three days of the purchase.
