The 5-door electric is supposedly going to be built by Renault and will be based on the CMF BEV platform. Nissan Micra’s successor will be built by Renault in the European markets. The underpinning will be the shared platform under the Nissan-Renault Mitsubishi alliance. The underpinning will be a chief contributor in all the future models. The auto manufacturer has invested 23 billion Euros for this purpose.

Nissan plans to bring in 35 new electric models by the end of this decade. The company has already shared teasers of Nissan Micra’s successor giving key cues of the silhouette of the upcoming car. The car would feature aerodynamic wheel covers, a conventional 5-door silhouette, a short hood, and regular door handles.

Other key features include – oval-shaped LED headlamps, synced tail lamps, and an illuminated Nissan badge. The name of this upcoming model is yet to be announced. We understand Nissan will target volume-based customers at an affordable price bracket. The car is supposedly set to roll out of Renault ElectriCity center in the North of France.

The car is expected to share a lot of similarities with the all-new Renault 5. Production is set to begin next year. Although Renault is in charge of production duties, the car is expected to carry signature Nissan trademarks. In its current portfolio of EV’s Nissan has the Leaf, the Ariya C-segment SUV, and the Townstar LCV.
